The community's vision, as outlined in the Roxby Downs Community Plan (2005), is for Roxby Downs to be a place of excellence in education and workplace training. The Education and Workplace Training Forum was established in September 2005 as a subcommittee of the Roxby Downs Community Board. The Forum is made up of representatives from local schools, TAFESA, Gateways for Youth, group training organisations (CEG), businesses, BHP Billiton, Roxby Downs Council and interested members of the community.
The group works together to develop strategies and projects that progress the community's vision. In 2006 and 2007 the forum ran a successful Outback Careers and Employment Expo. In 2008 a sister event called "Career Speak" was held with a program of speakers from a range of industries and professions. This event was held again in 2009 with a target audience of school students in years 9 to 12, their parents and community members.
