Multicultural Group 

The Multicultural Group was established October 2007 in response to the growing number of people moving into Roxby Downs from overseas.

There are 34 nationalities currently represented in the community and many people are recent migrants from countries such as New Zealand, South Africa, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Fiji, Indonesia, Kenya, Russia, Poland, India, Chile, Mozambique, Nigeria, Romania, Phillipines, Eqypt and Argentina. BHP Billiton employees recruited from overseas have proficient english language skills, but in many cases members of their families (particularly spouses) may not.

The Multicultural Group provides opportunity for new migrants to meet other people and share their stories.

The Multicultural Group is now linked to the Roxby Downs Health Service community programs and meets every week.

There are opportunities to share and celebrate different cultures including language, crafts and cooking.
